Airport Name: Playa de Oro; code ZLO.
Location: 43 km northwest of downtown Manzanillo.
Facilities: The small but efficient terminal building has several shops plus a restaurant, bar, and rental car counters. An interesting mural and Colima Indian decorative motifs are visible within the terminal.
Climate: Hot during most of the year. The average temperature is 28 centigrade and the sun shines 365 days of the year.
Access: Manzanillo has an international airport.
Health and security: Because it is an international tourist attraction, Manzanillo is one of Mexico’s safest cities. Its place force has been trained to protect and offer directions to tourists. All the hotel beaches provide lifeguard service and colored flags are used to indicate swimming conditions. The food and water in restaurants is absolutely safe. In case of an emergency, the port has top medical hospital facilities; the better hotels all provide medical assistance on their premises.
Money: The official currency in Manzanillo is the Mexican Peso. The rate of exchange fluctuates daily. It’s best to change your foreign money into Pesos at banks and currency exchange houses and to pay for all services in pesos, although the majority of hotels and tourist spots accept most major international credit cards.
